Zanussi washer troubleshooting

Zanussi is an Italian brand of household appliances. It has been the property of Electrolux since 1984. The range of laundry appliances comprises over 30 washers.
The current lineup of Zanussi washing machines can be divided in two parts: LINDO100 and LINDO300.
The chart below is a troubleshooting guide for Zanussi washers. It explains what parts are at fault and how to get them repaired quickly.

Problems which you can resolve yourself

During machine operation it is possible that FIN light flashes to indicate that something is not working correctly.

  • 4 flashes = door open.
  • 2 flashes = the water is not drained.
  • 1 flash = there is no water filling.

Once the problem has been eliminated, press INICIO / PAUSA button to restart the programme. If after all checks, the problem persists, contact your local Service Centre.

The machine does not start up:Check that the door is firmly closed.
Check that the machine is plugged in and
that there is power at the socket.
Check that the main fuse has not blown.
Check that the programme selector dial is
positioned correctly and pulled out.
The machine does not fill:Check that the water tap is open.
Check that water is coming out of the tap.
Check that the inlet hose is not squashed or
kinked.
Check that the filter in the inlet hose is not
blocked.
Check that the door is closed
The machine fills then empties
immediately
The end of the drain hose is too low. Refer to
relevant paragraph in "water drainage"

The machine does not empty
and/or does not spin:
Check that the drain hose is not squashed or
kinked.
The drain filter is blocked. Clean it
The anticrease option has been selected.
There is water on the floor:Too much detergent or unsuitable detergent
(creates too much foam) has been used.
Check whether there are any leaks from one
of the inlet hose fittings. It is not always easy
to see this as the water runs down the hose;
check to see if it is damp.
Check that the drain hose is not damaged.
Check that the drain filter has been refitted
correctly after cleaning
Unsatisfactory washing resultsToo little detergent or unsuitable detergent
has been used.
Stubborn stains have not been treated prior
to washing.
The correct temperature or programme was
not selected
The machine vibrates or is noisy:Check that all the transit bolts and packing
have been removed.
Check that the machine is not resting against
anything.
Check that the support feet are resting firmly
on the ground and that the lock nuts are
securely tightened.
Check that the laundry is evenly distributed in
the drum.
Maybe there is very little laundry in the drum
The door will not open:The programme is still running.
The door lock has not yet been released.
There is water in the drum
Water is not visible in the
machine:
The machine, which is the result of modern
technology, runs in a very economical way
with low water consumption. Performance is
nevertheless excellent.

Zanussi T series washer troubleshooting

The T series is the name of an older range of top-loading washers produced by the Italian white goods manufacturer Zanussi. Some of the characteristic features include quick wash, half load wash, and a spinning speed variator. Although these washing machines are currently out of production, they are still present in some households due to their longevity.

— was the wrong quantity or the wrong detergent added ? I nsufficient detergent leads to grey washes and scale deposits in the machine. Check the quantities more exactly.

The washing cycle is very much too long.Check that:
— the water pression is sufficient.
— the pump filter is not obstructed.
— there has not been a power breakdown.
The washing machine stops during a washing cycle.Check that:
— the water pression is sufficient.
— the pump filter is not obstructed.
— the mains fuse is intact.
— there is not a rinse hold ending a washing programme (see the programmes chart pages 29 and 30).
The machine does not start upCheck that:
— the mains fuse is intact.
— the appliance is plugged in,.
— the lid is firmly shut.
— the programme selector dial is correctly positioned,
— the beginning of the programme has been ordered (on/off pushbutton pushed on).
— there has not been a power breakdown.
The machine does not drain and/or does not spinCheck that:
— the drain hose is not squashed or bent.
— the drain filter is not clogged.
The machine does not fillCheck that:
— the inlet water hose is opened and the water pression is sufficent.
— the lid of the appliance is closed.
— there has not been a breakwater.
The machine vibrates or is too noisyCheck that:
— all the transit bolts and packing have been removed.
— all the feet resting firmly on the ground, the lock nuts have been secrured.
— the machine does not touch something.
— the load is sufficent.
The machine empties as it fillsCheck that:
— the end of the drain hose is not too low.
There is water on the floorCheck that:
— there is not too much detergent or unsuitable detergent. The formation of foam can cause water leaks.
— one of the detergent dispenser is not obstructed.
— the drain hose is well hanged.
— if one of the joints or the tap leaking ? it is not always easy to see as the leak often runs along the hose.
— is the drain filter cover properly closed ?
Softener detergent flows out the overflow orificeCheck that:
— you have respected the adviced quantities.
— check that the siphons located at the back of the detergent dispenser are not obstructed.
