The Ed error code reports a door issue. Not infrequently, it happens due to careless use of a machine and failure to use the door properly rather than due to a technical issue.
Signs of the problem
The Ed code does not appear often. It was used in washing machines manufactured before 2008. More advanced Samsung models use De instead of Ed.
The code can come with a digit, and here is a complete list of error codes:
- De;
- De1;
Some Samsung models use codes with a ‘c’ added:
- Dc;
- Dc1;
There are Samsung washing machines, which display phrases instead of error codes, like ‘door error’ or ‘door’.
Washing machines, which are not equipped with display screens, signal such issues with flashing lights or all water temperature indicator lights burning.
Well, what can we do about the issue and if there is one of the abovementioned symbols on the screen?
Ed problems
If you see an Ed on your Samsung washing machine’s display, there may be a number of difficulties, such as:
- The door not closing properly;
- If you see the code at the end of the cycle, the door won’t open;
- Although the door closes, the lock is not activated.
This can be either a minor or major issue, and professional help may be required.
Identifying the issue
If your Samsung machine is showing the Ed error code, try to do a simple diagnostic yourself.
Basic diagnostic
Primary diagnostic:
- Make sure the door is closed well;
- Check the door for forengn objects stuck between it and the body.
In both cases, the solution is simple: remove the object blocking the door and close it. If the problem persists, you will need to dig deeper.
Check the electronics
The Ed on the screen may indicate an electronic issue. Reset your Samsung washing machine by unplugging it for a few minutes. If this method fails, there must be a door lock problem.
